The Bays tour

From point to point, Port Phillip Bay offers the ideal setting for a short break close to Geelong.

Experience the atmosphere of the grand old seaside town of Queenscliff, where you will discover an historic lighthouse and a century old fort built to curb the Russian threat.

To enjoy the delights of the Mornington Peninsula, take the ferry from Queenscliff to the popular sandstone resort of Sorrento. Then visit Portsea, where you can wander the wild back beaches. Sample the full flavour of the Peninsula’s outstanding shiraz, pinot noirs and chardonnays, the attractive handiwork of fertile soil and a temperate climate.

Afterwards, look over the wonderful crafts and produce at the local Red Hill Community Market and watch the seas crash at windswept Cape Schanck.

In the Melbourne bayside suburb of St Kilda, you can relish beachside cafes, restaurants and all the culinary delights of Acland Street.

Then drive over the Westgate Bridge and you have less than a one hour freeway drive back to Geelong. If you have time to spare on the tour, then stop off at Werribee Park Mansion and explore the Open Range Zoo.
